Membership Categories
1. Direct full market members:
Wholesale: Individual markets or market organisations directly involved in the operation and management of local-authority owned, stated-owned and/or private wholesale markets.
Retail: An ‘organisation’ which has a core business of operating retail markets. An ‘organisation’ can be a public or private retail market operator or an association of cities and/or operators.
2. Collective full market members:
Entities, institutes or associations (both stated-owned and/or private) that are shareholders, or representatives of wholesale/retail markets in their respective countries, both by their own initiative or competence and by delegation of competency, that are of their choosing, and according to their own local situation.
3. Associate Organisation Members:
Wholesale: Private companies, industry associations, institutes or organisations interested in, or working with, wholesale markets.
Retail: Any other organisation that has an interest in retail markets.
4. Associate Individual Members:
Wholesale: Any individuals interested in, or working with, wholesale markets.
Retail: Any individual with an interest in retail markets (i.e. academics, traders, etc).
Consultants: Consultant companies, associations and/or individuals that require assistance from the WUWM and/or its membership for limited-time purposes.

Membership Benefits
Profile:
  1. Your market will enjoy a profile in the WUWM membership directory, website, and within other diverse brochures and materials;
  2. Your market events and activities can be promoted to the WUWM membership, associated trade representative bodies, as well as the general public;

  4. Access to WUWM market information data, research materials and studies, also including other member data reserves - for both specific and related market requirements;
  5. Access to information on food quality and safety issues e.g. European Commission Directives.
Experience Exchange:
  1. WUWM provides, at minimum twice yearly, an international platform for the interpersonal exchange of wholesale and retail market information, especially in relation to the identification and resolution of common market issues;
  2. WUWM offers members a professional ‘think tank’ to explore market issues on an individual as well as a collective basis;
  3. WUWM encourages members to participate in regionalized working groups, or within specific thematic areas of market management and operation;
  4. WUWM offers the benefits of collective representation towards international and regional bodies determining market legislation, management and direction; e.g. the European Commission, the United States Department of Agriculture, World Trade Organization, etc.
Networking:
  1. WUWM provides opportunities to network within bi-annual membership meetings and congresses;
  2. WUWM can provide contact details, information and assistance in relation to making market visits, hosting market receptions and events, etc – nationally, regionally and internationally;
  3. WUWM provides members with possibilities to build partnerships through networking - within both the wholesale and the retail market industries;
  4. WUWM provides national retail and wholesale market associations with the possibility to network easily and effectively at the international level;
  5. WUWM provides a possibility for members to explore trade links between regions and countries;
  6. WUWM offers a liaison between retailers, producers, distributors, suppliers and wholesalers.
