WUWM Asia-Pacific Region Launches Conference
October 15, 2008
An Asia/Pacific Regional Working Group was established by WUWM in early 2008. This regional group is chaired by WUWM Board member Mr Zengjun Ma, Chairman of the China Agricultural Wholesale Markets Association (CAWA) and aims to intensify regional collaboration and provide focus and support to the specific interest areas of members in Asia and the Pacific. In line with that idea, the WUWM Asia/Pacific Regional Working Group has agreed to co-host with CAWA and the China Farm Brokers Association a 1st Asia-Pacific Wholesale Market Conference & the 2nd China International Agri-Products Trading Fair in Zhengzhou, China from 17-19 November 2008. This is one of the first conferences and exhibitions to be held in the Chinese wholesale market industry, and follows up the success of the CAWA hosted WUWM 25th Congress held in Beijing in September 2008. The aim of this conference is to develop the exchange and co-operation between agricultural product distribution industries in the Asia-Pacific region, and to promote the development of the global agricultural product trade using wholesale markets as a major platform. More than 500 people will attend this Wholesale Market Conference, with nearly 1000 exhibition booths open to delegates during the Trading Fair. Participants will include Chinese government officials, large agricultural product wholesale markets, industry associations, agri-product brokers and various market equipment enterprises. Regional delegates are also expected from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and India. Organised by the Zhengzhou Xinji Seasoning Co, delegates will be given the possibility to visit this wholesale market - the biggest market for seasoning in China. Established in 1997, the market boasts a total built area of 80,000m2. More than 1,500 businesses operate on the premises with an annual trading volume of some US$450 million. The Trading Fair will allow exhibitors to promote their companies to a diverse Asian/Pacific audience, and provide a platform for promotion of the latest in regional developments and achievements.
